A new free app called What3Words can now help you pinpoint your given location within an extremely precise margin anywhere in the world. This is particularly useful in an emergency as you can use it to provide the emergency services with a very accurate location, which will prevent them from wasting valuable time searching for you and should dramatically shorten your rescue time.
What3Words attaches three random words to every 3 m² patch of the entire world (there are 57 trillion possibilities worldwide). Using your phone’s in-built GPS you can identify the exact location of anywhere in the world: from your front door to where you have broken down or even where you are located on the side of a mountain e.g. the top of Ben Nevis is marble.messaging.hacksaw. Sulk.layers.powers is a spot on the hard shoulder of the M6 just east of Preston.
People with mobility issues who get stranded or lost, as well as people who can’t give a specific location to emergency services, can use the app to locate where they are with a simple click. Furthermore, this app can also be used for people who live in secluded locations or places that are difficult to find so now delivery drivers will be able to find your house with ease. No more cold takeaways!
This app has many uses in daily life so go ahead and download it!
